How to Import data from Speed Map APIs to GIS

This article describes how to use Swiftly's APIs to conduct further analysis on route average segment speeds and stop dwell times in a GIS environment. This may be useful for those who want to combine average segment speed information and dwell times with other data sets, all in one place.

Here, we provide an overview of how to import data from Speed Map APIs to GIS environments, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, etc., without the need for any coding. Please follow the simple steps below to accomplish that.

If you're interested in calling the APIs from a programming environment instead, the API Guide provides code samples in different programming languages.

1- Head over to 'Menu'->'API Guide'->'Test Your Key'. From here, copy the API key you'd like to use:

2- Head over to the tab 'Reference'-> 'Speed Map'->'Settings'. Paste your API key and specify the route of interest:

3- Under 'Query', specify direction and date range and set the format to geojson.

4- Once the results are returned, you can copy them into a text editor, save the file as .geojson and easily import it into ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.:
