The Admin Panel contains the Vehicles & Devices view, which allows you to manage the mapping of devices to vehicles in Swiftly's system. Devices may include routers, GPS trackers, or other types of on-vehicle hardware. You must have permission within the Swiftly dashboard to make any changes to your agency’s device configuration. To get permission, reach out to support@goswift.ly or your Customer Success Manager.
Adding a New Device
The "Add Device" button allows you to add a new device. A new device must have the following attributes:
- Device ID: The id that will come through your feed(s) to Swiftly representing that device, typically a serial number
- Vehicle ID: This must be an existing vehicle (If the vehicle does not exist, create it first using the "Add Vehicle" button)
- Device Type: This must be one of the existing types in the dropdown menu. If the device type does not exist yet, email support@goswift.ly to request that it be added to the system.
Moving a Device from One Vehicle to Another
Use the "Add Device" button and add the device to the vehicle you'd like to move it to, and the system will recognize that an existing device is being moved from one vehicle to another.
Deleting a Device
Click the "x" next to a device ID to delete that device from Swiftly's database. You'll be prompted with a warning that this permanently deletes the device, and you'll have to re-create it manually if you want
Adding a New Vehicle
To add a new vehicle, click the "Add Vehicle" button, enter the vehicle ID in the panel on the left side, and click the "Add Vehicle" button in the panel. The vehicle will now be created in the table, and you can now add new devices on it.
Deleting a Vehicle
To delete a vehicle, click the "x" next to the vehicle ID. You'll be prompted to click a checkbox to confirm that you want to permanently delete the vehicle and all associated devices.
