Understanding How to Use Onboard App Training Mode

Follow

Overview

You can use Training Mode to train and onboard new teammates to Onboard App, or to explore app features without affecting live operations. While Training Mode is on, Swiftly does not record your sign-in, does not send GPS data from the device, and does not record passenger counts. Nothing you do in Training Mode appears on your live dashboards.

Turn on Training Mode

  1. Open Onboard App. On the Sign In screen, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner.
  2. In Settings, press and hold the "App Version" row. This reveals additional settings, including Training Mode.

  3. Toggle Training Mode on.

Optional settings

  • Simulation Mode: With Simulation Mode on, the app follows the selected vehicle's live reported position instead of the tablet's own GPS. This lets you "ride along" with a vehicle in service from anywhere. Simulation Mode requires Training Mode: turning it on also turns Training Mode on, and turning Training Mode off turns Simulation Mode off.

  • Disable Safe Driving Mode: Turn this on so the app isn't locked while the device is moving. This lets you fully explore the app during a simulated trip.

Sign in with Training Mode

  1. Return to the Sign In screen. You should see the message "Training mode is enabled. Swiftly will not record your sign-in or GPS data."

  2. Tap Sign In and select a Vehicle ID. In Training Mode, only vehicles with an active assignment appear in the list.
  3. Confirm the assignment to mirror that vehicle's live operations without affecting its performance. This gives you a ride-along view of a vehicle already in service.

Good to know

  • Training Mode activity never reaches your live dashboards. Sign-ins, GPS data, and passenger counts are all suppressed on the device.
  • To leave Training Mode, return to Settings, press and hold "App Version," and toggle Training Mode off. This also turns off Simulation Mode.
