Operator Reports Basics

Follow

A transit system performs better when a system sets up operators to succeed. The Operator Reports products gives insights into, historically, how your operators are performing. By understanding where operators are scheduled to be versus where they actually are throughout their blocks, Swiftly accurately identifies when and where operators are the most early, late, and on time. In the Operator Reports products, you can view overall schedule adherence performance over a particular date range or narrow in on a particular operator or route to understand where operations or routes become problematic - at specific stops, during certain time windows, or both - so that you can make informed decisions about how to improve layover scheduling, how to better train operators, and also validate operator feedback about notorious problem areas.

The Basics

Summary Overview: You can view the overall on-time performance across all stops and routes for your operators. Also, you can view changes and trends to your operator's on-time performance, first stop schedule adherence, and layover use.

Filters: In the Operator Reports product, you can focus on all operators for all routes, or you can hone in on a specific operator. When looking at a specific operator you can analyze all of the operator's routes or you can look into a specific route. You can understand performance for a single day or over a longer date range. Lastly, you can always adjust on-time performance parameters--these changes will persist in other products during the current dashboard session but any setting changes will reset when you log in again.

Summary Page: When you select "All Operators" and "All Routes" you can access the Summary view. This view provides an overview of your operators' on-time performance for your whole system. It also offers a bird's eye view of general layover use, first stop adherence, and whether your early trends are going up or down over time.

On-Time Performance: The On-Time Performance view can help you skim performance for all operators on all routes or drill down into a specific operator on a specific route. This view allows you to quickly compare performance organized by route or operator, and sort by which type of performance issue you want to approach first - early, on-time, or late.

Trip by Trip: A complete table of every recorded departure for one day in your operator's schedule. Each row in this table is a trip (trip start time is listed in the far left column), and each column is a stop along those trips. Each cell displays the number of minutes early (pink) or late (yellow) the operator departed a stop. Click on any cell to get details about that departure.

Layover: Deep dive into layover adherence--this view gives you a granular look at how operators are taking their layover time. Understand if layovers are scheduled appropriately and whether operators have too much or not enough time for a break. Breakdown operator to operator about their layover usage, and utilize this view to understand how to prioritize operator training or adjust schedules accordingly for better layover adherence.
