Live Ladder View

Follow

The Live Ladder view gives you a quick understanding of live vehicle spacing without having to worry about geographical route or vehicle placement. This view removes route shapes and shows you a side by side view of any or all routes in your system on the same scale. This spatial view is a quick way to understand relative distances between vehicles on a route and manage your network on a frequency basis, while simultaneously being able to understand schedule and headway adherence.

The Basics

Overview: Vehicles are color-coded by their on-time performance or by real-time headway status. Vehicles are placed onto ladder routes, which are the same size and scale for all routes (regardless of geographical length), which indicates how close or far away vehicles are from each other.

Route(s): Select all routes, route groups, multiple routes, or one route to understand vehicle performance and spacing. All routes are on the same scale, which creates seamless comparisons of vehicle performance and spacing in one view.

The first stop will be on the left-hand side of the ladder route, and direction will go from left to right. Routes with multiple trip patterns will have more than two ladder lines. For example, in the image below, you can see that there are two return routes with different destinations.

Layover Vehicle: Layover vehicles will show up in the ladder view just to the left of the ladder or to the right of the ladder corresponding to the next vehicle trip. Vehicles that have not yet left after the scheduled departure time will show a yellow ring around that vehicle--indicating that the vehicle is about to start a trip late.

Vehicle Details: Click on any vehicle or search for it to get details like the Vehicle ID, trip information, on-time performance, next stop, operator ID (if integrated) , and more! Vehicle details will show up on the left-hand side. When you select a vehicle, the details panel will maintain throughout the three Live Operation views.

Search: Search by vehicle, block, run, or operator ID to get more details and see where that vehicle is on the ladder routes. Search by stop ID, name, stop code to add those routes to your Ladder view.

Change Assignment: Click on a vehicle, and in the vehicle detail's panel you can click the "Change Assignment" button to manually assign that vehicle to a route. Keep in mind that Manual Assignment has downstream effects on predictions and insights. Not all users will have access to this action and we recommend learning more about the Manual Assignment tool here

GPS Playback: Click on a vehicle, and in the vehicle detail panel you can click the "Open in GPS Playback" button to view past historical vehicle movement for that specific vehicle. Learn more about the GPS Playback product.

View in Live Map: Click on a vehicle, and in the vehicle detail panel you can click the "View in Live Map" button. This will automatically show you this vehicle in the Live Map view to give you a geographical context for this specific vehicle.
